Bernard Schwartz House, 1939, Two Rivers, WI. The Usonian homes, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright from 1936-1959, brought affordable design to the working class of the United States. This design is adapted from the perforated boards at the Schwartz House. In Wisconsin, Bernard Schwartz was ready to build a house for his family and gave Wright the opportunity to build his Usonian “Dream House,” which Schwartz had seen featured in Life Magazine. Wright modified the plans and went on to refine the design by pushing up the ceiling in the living area, making room for a stunning second-floor balcony overlooking the recreation room. This higher ceiling created space for his clerestory perforated boards, which allowed in light and cast interesting geometric shadows to endlessly delight his clients.

About the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection

Classic Rug Collection was selected by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to design and market several series of rugs based on Wright’s designs. The company was chosen in part based on my Klimt Collection, which illustrates beautifully how I can work with an artist’s designs to interpret them and translate them into rugs. The most important part of the collection is the Signature Series, a group of hand-knotted and hand-tufted rugs made at the highest quality level. The initial collection has five rugs and two runners.

All of the products in the Signature Series can be ordered in any color, size, or material; there are also stock sizes available for immediate delivery. We can also make custom Frank Lloyd Wright designs. Please contact us for more information.
